We are excited to announce the launch of the 2024 International Application of Archaeological Science (IAAS) workshop, hosted by the Department of Archaeology at the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology.

Building upon the success of our past workshops in 2018, 2019 and virtually in 2021, where we fostered a vibrant environment of learning and skill development, the 2024 IAAS workshop promises to be even more enriching and impactful.

For those unfamiliar, the IAAS workshop is an intensive workshop tailored for students and early career researchers passionate about delving into the depths of archaeological sciences. Our primary objective is not merely to impart knowledge but to ignite a sustained passion for the exploration and application of cutting-edge archaeological methodologies.

At the heart of our workshop lies a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip participants with a diverse array of modern archaeological science methods. From quantitative lithics analyses to Geographical Information Systems approaches, from ancient proteomics to stable isotope analysis, our program encompasses a wide spectrum of techniques with global relevance.

The impact of the IAAS workshop extends far beyond its immediate duration. By empowering attendees with invaluable skills and knowledge, our ultimate goal is to cultivate a global network of archaeologists armed with the tools and inspiration to investigate the past.

Stay tuned for further updates and announcements regarding the 2024 IAAS workshop.
